Dr. Jordan Weinstein Lead Developer
Dr. Weinstein is an internist and nephrologist at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. His background is in medical education and computers, specifically, the planning and execution of e-Learning projects. Dr. Weinstein is a developer of advanced e-learning websites with special proficiency in PHP-based content management systems. He is currently on staff at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in this faculty. Dr. Weinstein is the lead developer of UHemOnc's affiliate sites, UKidney.com, UEndocrine.com and UPsychiatry.com.
Dr. Harold J. Olney, Advisor and Editor
Dr. Olney is an assistant professor at the University of Montreal based at the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM). He is scientific director of the cancer cytogenetics laboratory and an attending hematologist and oncologist. He is also currently coordinator of the outpatient hematology clinics and was named Chief of the Department of Hematology-Transfusion Medicine in 2006. His interests are primarily in malignant hematology, particularly myeloid diseases, but also has a longstanding interest in medical education and has been on the adult hematology residency training committee of the U. of Montreal from the early 2000s.
Dr. Denis Soulières, Advisor and Editor
Dr. Soulières practices at CHUM as medical Hematologist-Oncologist and predominantly treats patients with head and neck tumors, urological cancers, lymphoproliferative syndrome and sarcomas. He is the director of the site for head and neck cancers and tumours in young adults.He also heads the Hemoglobinopathy and thalassemia clinic at CHUM. Dr. Soulières is the director of the special hematology and molecular biology laboratory at CHUM's Hematology and Transfusion Medicine Department. Having led CHUM's Hematology-Oncology Clinical Research Unit for 3 years, he remains very active in clinical research as principal investigator or associate.
Dr. Wendy Lam, Reviewer
Dr. Wendy Lam is a hematologist and medical oncologist at the Burnaby Hospital Regional Cancer Center. She received her B.Sc.(Pharmacy) at Dalhousie University and her MD from University of British Columbia. She then completed her Internal Medicine residency at UBC and Hematology fellowship at McMaster University. She is founding Director of the British Columbia Community Oncology Trialists, which is a collaborative group of oncologists and hematologists involved in clinical research. She has been the principal investigator for many clinical trials. Her other interests include education of the medical team as well as patients. She has been invited to give lectures locally and nationally. She has also been instrumental in organizing meetings for continued medical education. She is Director of the Society of Hematology and Oncology of BC at the BCMA.
Dr. Brian Leber, Reviewer
Dr. Brian Leber received his undergraduate, medical and internal medicine training at McGill University before completing Hematology residency at McMaster University. After a research fellowship in Molecular Biology at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine (University of London), he returned to McMaster where he is currently a Professor in the Department of Medicine (Division of Hematology and Thromboembolism).
